FAQ

General Questions:
Q - What kinds of
films do you have?
A - Well, what films are you looking for? At
Far East Flix, we've always specialized in Chinese and Japanese Kung Fu
and Martial Arts films. We also added to our inventory films of several
other categories, including Japanese and Samurai, Asian horror and
Science fiction, just to name a few. Please feel free to browse the
titles we have currently available by clicking any of the navigation
links on the left side of the top of this page. We will be adding more
titles frequently, so check back and check often!
Q - What kind of
media (DVD, Laserdisc, VHS) is the source for your discs?
A - Depending on the rarity of the film and
the quality of the available media of that film, any of those media
sources may be used, or even a combination of them (for example:
English dubbed VHS audio and a widescreen DVD video presentation).
Whatever the media source that is used in the products we offer, you
can be assured that it is the best video and audio presentation
that we have found in our many, many years of being in this business.
Q - What is the
overall quality of your merchandise?
A - Most of our films range in quality from
EXTREMELY GOOD to EXCELLENT condition. Some of the titles we offer are
extremely rare and hard to find. The quality of those films may range
from only "fair" to "good". All of our films are digitally converted
from the best available source materials into a NTSC DVD format. As a
digital conversion from these other source materials, the DVD is a
digital presentation of that film, in the same video and sound quality
as the original source material(s) the DVD was mastered from.
Please be aware that there is a
difference between the digital conversion (or digital "mastering") of a
film and the process of digital "remastering" of a film, (which
requires one to have in their possession the actual film print of the
movie, for the restoring of sound and/or video deterioration). Be weary
of ANY merchant who claims that they've "remastered" their products.
If you have any questions about the
film or sound quality of a particular film that we have, please email.
We strive to provide the best quality that there is to be found. We
wouldn't settle for less, so why should you.
Q - What is the
video format of the movies?
A - All of our films are offered on high
quality DVD-R media in the NTSC video format only with an "all region
play" (Region 0) coding. We are not able to accommodate requests for
other video formats. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Q - Are the
movies sold in plastic cases with cover art?
A -
Every film is professionally labeled and comes to you packaged
with a full color cover artwork in a plastic clamshell DVD case.
Q - Do you offer
any other merchandise besides movies?
A -
No. At this time, Far East Flix is strictly a DVD merchant.
Q - I am looking
for a film but I don't remember what it is called. Can you help me?
A -
Yes, we can! Try to be as descriptive about the film as you can
(actors, director, year film was made, plot or storyline) and we will
do our best to find the title you are looking for! The more information
you are able to give us, the better our chances of locating the title
of your film.
Q - I am looking
for a movie that is not on your website. Can you get it for me?
A - We have a tremendous
inventory of movie titles, both in our own video library as well as
other titles that are commercially available from other video
retailers. We have also been in the business of selling Asian import
films for several years.
We make every effort try to assist
our customers who want to purchase a film that is not in our catalog or
otherwise unavailable for purchase.
Q - Don't you
sell VHS tapes, Laserdiscs, or VCD's (video CD)?
A -
No. At one time, Far East Flix did sell Laserdiscs and we
discontinued distributing video tapes. At this time, Far East Flix is
strictly a DVD merchant.
Q - I have seen
some of the titles you sell offered by other video merchants for less
money. Why should I buy movies from you?
A -
We have several years experience in this business and offer the highest
quality of both entertainment and customer service. Simply put, that is
what you pay for. Our films are transfers from the original or first
generation sources to ensure the highest quality. The movies we offer
are expertly produced, professionally packaged, and digitally mastered
onto high grade, quality DVD-R media. We deliver our products and
respond to all customer concerns and questions promptly and courteously.
Other merchants may care very little
about the product they sell and are only looking for a "fast buck".
They could be offering inferior film prints with poor visual or sound
quality, unprofessional translations, or poor quality digital
reproduction on bulk or "low grade" blank media, and are therefore
charging you a lower purchase price.
If you are satisfied with another
merchant's products and service that charges a lower purchase price,
then continue to purchase from that merchant...
But, if you are tired of: films that
look terrible, that sound awful, that have unreadable or illiterate
translations, that no longer work in your DVD player 6 months after
you've purchased it, or other merchants that provide little or no
customer service, we recommend that you take a look at the films and
services we offer.

Shipping
methods and fees:
Q - How much are
shipping costs?
A -
Shipment costs are only $6.00 per order, no matter how many
titles are purchased! NYS residents are also charged and must pay
8.875% sales tax on their order.
Q - What methods
of shipping do you use?
A -
Domestic (continental US) orders are shipped via USPS. ALL
international orders are shipped via USPS Air Mail.
Q - How long will
it take for my order to be processed?
A -
All orders must be processed and payments must be cleared by our banks
before any order is shipped. The length of time that it takes to
process an order depends on (1) the method used to place the order and
(2) the the method used for payment.
All orders via mail with payments by
personal checks will require up to 7-10 business days to clear. All
orders via mail with payments by either Money Order or Cash are
processed upon receipt of the order.
Orders placed online using Paypal
are processed without any delay, because the order contents and
delivery address is immediately available to us, and the payment is
automatically transferred into our Paypal account.

processing policies are on a case by case basis, and are reserved for
our regular customers only.
Q - How long will
it take for my order to be shipped?
A -
The actual shipping time varies, depending on method of payment and
destination of the shipment. The farther the shipment destination from
the North East United States, the more time the package spends in
transit.
Generally, we ask that customers
allow 1-2 weeks from the ship date to receive their orders. Large
orders or international destinations may require more time. We prepare
all orders to ship as quickly as possible, usually within 1-3 days.
Persons paying by personal check may have their shipment delayed by
7-10 business days to allow checks to clear before their order is
shipped.
Q - Can you send
my package to me COD (collect on delivery)?
A -
We have decided to no longer offer the COD payment option due to the
continually rising costs to you, the customer. We are sorry for any
inconvenience this may cause to those few customers for which the high
costs of COD is still their preferred method of payment.
Return
and exchange policies:
Q - I was not
happy with my purchase. How can I get a refund?
A -
All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds on purchases. Most of
our customers are knowledgeable in the films they wish to
purchase, and are already aware of what to expect in the "content" of
the film. We ask that you please be sure of your purchases before you
place your initial order.
If you are unsure of what a film is
about and want to be sure before making your purchase, please read the
film description or see our "links" page for movie database and
reference pages. There you can look up the description of the
particular title in question.
Q - My order
arrived and the film(s) was damaged or defected. How can I get a
replacement?
A -
We are happy to replace any film that is damaged or defective. Customer
satisfaction is our priority! We do prefer that you contact us either
by mail, fax or email before you return the disc(s) so that we can
prepare your replacement. Please include in the returned package your
reason for the return (what is wrong with the disk), and your
replacement shipment information. Note however, that we will only
replace a damaged or defective film for another of the SAME title. We
do NOT exchange defective or damaged goods for a different title. We
ask that you please be sure of your purchases before you place your
initial order.
