Hou Hsiao-shan is beaten by guards of a casino because he was caught cheating. Fortunately for him, he is rescued by Kung Fu expert, Ma Ta. After this incident, Ma and Hou become friends. As they are penniless, Hou tries to steal money from a wealthy youth. But he is caught and man-handled by the youth. The local ruffians bully them, as they practice quackery, but soon the bullies receive a thrashing from them. A strongman, running a show in town, invites the passers by to a boxing match; With the stipulation that the winner will receive a tael of silver from the loser. Ma accepts the challenge, but he's quickly beaten. Then the wealthy youth jumps to his rescue by defeating the strongman in another boxing bout.
