Wakayama plays Kiichi Hogan, a bounty hunter who is trying to raise enough money to gain passage to Spain so he can hunt down the Spanish master swordsman Gonzales. Eighteen years earlier, Gonzales had murdered Hogan’s father, raped his fiancée, and cut the young man’s throat, thus robbing him of his voice forever.

In the first 2 episodes we not only meet the Mute Samurai, but also find the mysterious ronin known as Manji, dogging his trail.
