Lung served in the Special Units of the People's Liberation Army and had received good training in Chinese Kung Fu. He is a no-nonsense, non-flamboyant guy, just looking for some simple and unadventurous life in Hong Kong.
Birdie, on the other hand, is an impulsive gambler and a regular customer of the loan sharks. Unable to repay the interest due to them, Birdie was beaten up by the loan sharks. Lung intervened on Birdie's behalf and the loan sharks syndicate took offense. In retaliation, the syndicate destroyed the fish nursery by putting poison in the water - A mistake that would cost them dearly in pain, blood and death...!
