However, angling for the prize are two famous scoundrels: Ma (Chu Siu Keung), a renowned sharpshooter, and Cho Fei Fan (Teddy Robin), a gentleman thief with unlikely kung-fu prowess. Separately, the two would-be thieves promise to steal the artifact out from under Charlie Chan's nose, but together the three form a bond of mutual respect and acknowledged competition. There might be money and reputations on the line, but to these three honorable men nothing is more important than their private game with one another - and the bragging rights that go to the winner! Director Brandy Yuen (aided by action director Yuen Wah) loads the film with finely-choreographed action and oodles of nifty Hong Kong Cinema style.
