In this 1992 remake of the Hong Kong classic A Touch of Zen, doomed paramours of Shakespearian proportions are central to a story set during a dark era of warring dynasties. Princess Choi Siu-Ling (Michelle Reis) and Prince Ha Hou (Sek-Ming Lau) are the heirs of two competing kingdoms. Ha Hou, driven by his megalomaniacal aunt (Kara Hui), is learning the ultimate in swordplay in order to reclaim his people's power. Siu-Ling, with the help of her bodyguard Choi Siu-Ching (Cynthia Khan), is trying to reach a safe territory in which to assume her rule. But crafty governors, wizards, and a pack of whirling airborne monks are wreaking havoc for everyone involved...
